Festive & Fudgy: Chocolate Almond Butter Balls for the Holidays

Recipe

If you’re looking for a simple, dairy-free holiday treat that still supports steady energy and midlife metabolism, these chocolate almond butter balls are a perfect fit. They’re rich, naturally sweetened with mashed banana, and made with ingredients that work for women in midlife. This is one of my favorite recipes for menopause because it feels festive without the sugar crash.

These little bites taste like a cross between a truffle and a brownie – soft, chocolatey, and just sweet enough. They’re also no-bake, which means you can make them in minutes, even on a busy December weeknight.

Why These Balls Support Midlife Health

  • Banana
Provides natural sweetness without added sugar. The potassium supports muscle function and helps counter bloating, something many women notice more in perimenopause and menopause.
  • Almond butter
A steady-energy fat source that helps keep blood sugar stable. The combination of healthy fats and protein supports metabolism and reduces mid-afternoon cravings.
  • Cocoa powder
Rich in antioxidants and magnesium. Magnesium is especially helpful for sleep, mood, and stress regulation during midlife.
  • Almond flour
A low-glycemic alternative to traditional flour. It adds structure without spiking blood sugar.
  • Flaxseed
A gentle hormone-supportive ingredient thanks to lignans and fiber. It helps digestion, supports estrogen balance, and keeps you fuller longer.

Together, these ingredients create a treat that feels indulgent but still aligns with how you want to feel: steady and supported.

A Holiday Treat You Can Actually Feel Good About

These chocolate almond butter balls are the kind of Christmas treat that doesn’t leave you feeling sluggish or foggy afterward. They’re easy to batch-make, kid-friendly, and perfect for gifting in a small jar or tin.

Description

Soft, fudgy, and naturally sweet, these Chocolate Almond Butter Balls have a truffle-like texture that feels indulgent without the crash.

Ingredients

Scale

1 ripe banana, mashed until smooth

1/2 cup almond butter (creamy works best)

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/4 cup almond flour

1 tablespoon ground flaxseed

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Optional: a small handful of dark chocolate chips or crushed nuts for texture

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, mash the banana until there are no lumps.

2. Add the almond butter, cocoa powder, almond flour, flaxseed, vanilla, and salt. Stir until everything comes together in a thick, brownie-like dough.

3. If the mixture feels too soft to roll, add a tablespoon of almond flour at a time until it firms up.

4. Scoop out small potions and roll into balls using your hands.

5. Place the balls on a parchment-lined plate or tray.

6. Chill in the fridge for 20-30 minutes, or until firm.

7. Store in an airtight container or fridge for up to 5 days.
