I'm Lora!

Hey there!

Did you know The Glycemic Index (GI) can predict your cravings? The glycemic index (GI) is the way we measure how much specific foods increase blood sugar levels.

We don’t generally pay a lot of attention to it – for example, the glycemic index (GI) isn’t listed on food labels.

A lot of times, the foods we crave (hello, carbs!) fall high on the glycemic index (GI) scale – and eating them can make us crave even more!

How the Glycemic Index Ranks Food and Can Predict Your Cravings

In a nutshell, the glycemic index (GI) ranks foods on a scale of 1 to 100 based on how fast they cause your blood sugar levels to go up.

Foods with a high glycemic index (GI) make it go up faster, and those with a low glycemic index (GI) raise it more slowly.

This matters because when your blood sugar goes up and down quickly, you can get cravings – and feel tired, shaky, and blah … not to mention HANGRY (hungry + angry).

And even more importantly, it can have a MAJOR impact on your health and your waistline … especially if it happens a lot.

Foods that have a Glycemic Index Score of:

    • 70 or more have a high glycemic index
    • 56-69 have a medium glycemic index
    • 55 or less have a low glycemic index

You’ll get fewer cravings if you eat lower-glycemic foods because they’re less likely to send your blood sugar on a roller coaster ride.

Plus, excess blood sugar over time eventually leads to insulin resistance. Then the insulin receptors lose their ability to respond…..and the result is that blood sugar is stored as fat!

Glycemic Stress and Insulin Resistance can Cause:

    • Insomnia
    • Fatigue
    • Excessive daytime sleepiness.

I hope this helps shed some light on the glycemic index and what it actually means for you, your cravings, and your results!

Often women think they can only love their body if they hit a certain number on the scale, feel good in a certain size, or fix something they don't like about themselves. Post this manifesto on your bathroom mirror, at your desk or in your favorite journal. It will show you how to make loving your body a new habit - and get you closer to building a life you love.

Loving your body is not an outcome, it's an input.
